A recent DNA test revealed that “High School Musical” alum Ashley Tisdale and her best friend Austin Butler — of “Elvis” fame — are actually cousins.
While competing with her sister, Jennifer Tisdale, on Ancestry.com’s “Two Lies & a Leaf,” Tisdale was informed that she was actually related to one of her former co-stars — and then was given several choices and challenged to guess who it might be.

“We discovered that Ashley is related to one of her co-stars,” the moderator began. “Is it: A. Zac Efron; B. Austin Butler; or C: Dylan and Cole Sprouse?”
“Oh my God, I have kissed almost every single one of them!” Tisdale exclaimed with a laugh, and immediately clarified that she meant stage-kissing. “And just so you know, I’ve kissed every single one of ’em on a show. Not in real life.”
“Dylan, Austin, and Zac … Austin and I always say that we’re like fraternal twins born very far apart, ’cause he is much younger, and we’ve always had that connection. So I wanna say that, but there — now it’s like, what?” Tisdale continued.
“On the count of three, flip your answers and show us,” the moderator continued — and Ashley ultimately confirmed that Butler was her guess as to which of the choices were related to her by blood. Her sister guessed it was the Sprouse twins — who starred in Disney’s “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.”
“And the answer is B: Austin Butler,” the moderator said, prompting a dramatic “Oh, my God!” from Tisdale.
“No wonder we have such a connection!” she said. “We’ve always said we were brother and sister. That is insane! I literally am gonna cry.”
Butler, who recently received high praise for his turn as the iconic rock star in “Elvis,” starred alongside Tisdale in “Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure.” And according to the DNA test, he is also Tisdale’s real-life 10th cousin, once removed.
“He’s my best, best friend,” Tisdale said of Butler. “I’m telling you, when we first met I was like, oh my God, we were like brother and sister from the minute we met.”

Tisdale said that she texted Butler immediately after learning they were related, and his response was simple: “No f***ing way!”
